If you wanna go really cheap, I'd also suggest welders glass. While it might not look the prettiest when mounted to your camera, it can produce nice images, as long as you watch where the sun is to avoid flare. Here are a few shots I got with my set-up. And yes, I am aware of the poor composition of the portrait shot =p.

Nice shots! My 2 above were with welding glass, directly pointed at the sun (sunrise). I didn't get any flaring.

If steroids are illegal for athletes, should PS be illegal for models?

Maybe your welding glass is a little higher quality than mine? I experience some flaring when the sun was in front of me and to the side, though it may have been light leaking in from the side.

I was in the same boa when I started... I used the welding glas cut tu 4x6 for a while and then I found some medical clas nd for whatever they use it on ebay for 10euros 30x30cm, cut my self a 4x6 and that gave better results... A few years lat ai have 8 different lee filters with the holder ... Incl the Big Topper and I must say it was a good investment.

I bought a B+W 110 ND myself, only took 1 sample shot to see how bad colour casting was, and it was VERY simple to correct in LR4 with the eyedropper WB tool. It will be getting heavy use in the next 2 weeks.

dbricks that is what i was looking for! Something cheap that I can use just to see if I like using a 10 stop before forking out $$$

Do you have any pictures with it in use?

Here's a link to a shot on my Flickr page where I used the filter: http://www.flickr.com …/in/set-72157630293097406 (external link). I haven't used it a lot, but I had fun using it. I'm still learning, but I felt that it was worth the $47 or so to give it a try.

bannedPermanent ban

B&H sells Tiffen sets of 3 ND filters (1,2 & 3 stops, and 2,3 and 4 stops) for $50 to $100+, depending on the size you need. That's a cheap in.

But Tiffen isn't held in any regard higher then the $20 ebay filters.
