Burrowing Owl Head Close-Up - S.W. Florida

This one was more of an experiment then anything else. I used two 1.4x TCIII on my 800mm L using Live View to manually focus. Was tricky but fun.

Hope you like it.

Canon 1D MKIV, Canon 800mm L, Two 1.4x TC III, 20mm tube, 600EX-RT with BB, all in Manual mode.

Thanks!

Excellent...wishing for an 800mm myself but I'd have to find a beat-to-hell one for my price limit (9k).

May I ask why you used two 1.4's instead of one 2x?

Very well done. Exceptional considering two 1.4 TCs.

Wonderful shot.

Not tried using MF on LV for birds. I presume you were on a tripod?

I'd say your experiment was a success, Max! Even on a solid tripod, I know that live view focus was jittery ;)

Well that's a good reason, then!

Excellent use of 2 extenders with an extension tube....they must have sucked up a lot of light...lol.

Liking the detail....I have read where extenders soften images....I tend not to believe everything I read...this is a great example. I'm sure the photographer had a lot to do with it as well....don't want to give credit to the gear if you know what I mean. ;)
