I've seen several 85L II's for $1550-$1600 shipped this last week. At those prices, makes little sense to pay $2k new fr 1-year of warranty

There's one for $1650 on FM right now I believe. These lenses are normally 4-5 years old.

I think I'll finally put in the order for the 100-400.

How about instead of the 16-35 get the 24-70 VC from Tamron? I don't normally go wider than 24 and the VC will help with video.

I don't know anything about other brands; all I'll buy are L's.
(unless I get a Rokinon 8mm or something for stars, etc)

I wonder if the video editors on The Titanic ever went, "Sorry, I can't right now. I'm busy synching the Titanic..."

Drop the 50 as it is too close to the 40 you already own. The 85 will do you right.

For dan because I take it he doen't do portraits I agree. 50 and 40 are wayy to close, if you aren't doing portraits don't get the 50L cause it'll be a waste of $$ and the 40 is close enough.

Otherwise if you're doing portraits I' dhighly recommend the 50L despite what Moko thinks or says. The 50L + 85L II are the best portrait combo right there and although everyone here tends to think they're 'too' close in focal length, I disagree, they are 2 insanely different lenses that serve completely different purposes.

About time you realized that :p Good move.

Yeah, so many of my other dress shirts were from before I lost all of this weight though, they still fit fine, regular dress shirts just get so baggy in the back.

MOkoFOko wrote in post #14887371 (external link)
With my frame, slim is impossible, especially for shirts. I envy beanpoles :p:lol:;)

Well I'm far from a bean pole. But yeah it really depends on your frame.

Get some tailor made clothing...that is the way to go!

I'd love to, it's a little out of my price range though. :p

Plus I have a 50 on my Nikon but it is a crop sensor body.

New list. None are a "need" just want.

But if you don't do portraits why get both an 85L and 50L AND a 135L? You should be getting a 300 2.8L II. Otherwise the 85L II is a great lens for other things besides portraits and if you have wider lenses to choose from don't bother with the 50 as well.

Hmm... picked up some new dress shirts last week and went with the slim fit this time... what a world of difference. Slim fit is the way to go.

You're learning this now?

You have to remember I've lost like 35lbs over the past 15 months... clothing sizes and fits and such have changed drastically for me.

Thanks.

My Gap jeans are working fine for me right now. Sure they aren't a $200 pair of jeans, but they're not bad. They fit well too. I'd like to try some raw denim sometime though... but JH-5's first. :p

Gap has some raw denim! I forget what model? I think it's part of the 1969 line

I like the last sentence.

The Tamron AF 24-70mm f/2.8 SP Di USD VC is not a perfect lens - none really are - but regarding the sum of its qualities it is obviously the best standard zoom for Canon EOS at this stage - at least till the Canon EF 24-70mm f/2.8 USM L II enters the scene. However, in any case it will be very hard to beat from a price perspective!

Seems like distortion at 24mm and vignetting at 2.8 are the two biggest issues. Both get fixed automatically when importing assuming Aperture has the new lens profile.
