Yeah the handycam's aren't a good judge of their higher end cameras, though it still has the handycam name the NEX-VG10 isn't really a handycam. But video cameras are so expensive, you get what you pay for.

Also, I wouldn't be worried about burning out your sensor on your DSLR... people log LOTS of hours shooting video on their DSLR's with no problem.

Ooohh. The XA10 is looking really nice right now. I just don't think I can swallow the price right now. I'm looking for something about 1/4 of the price. :/

Maybe I'll just get a Canon XA10. That's only $2,000. :D

Just put a nice lens mount on it?

My friend that helped grow my interest in video did that with a Flip HD. He went to Best Buy and got a lens ring adapter kit on sale for like $10. Super-glued one of them onto the front of his flip, and then he could screw on his different camcorder wide-angle and zoom lenses.

Don't want to do MiniDV tapes. I'd much rather stick with SD cards - they're much easier to get the video onto the computer. :p Also don't want to do craigslist.

Dang! I need to get a computer with usb 3.0 soon. I've had an Intensity Shuttle (external link) sitting on my shelf for almost 2 years. Didn't realize it wasn't backwards-compatible with usb 2.0 when I bought it. Also didn't realize it wasn't compatible with any usb 3.0 express cards.

Beautiful sunset where I'm at. A shame I'm in a suburban city and not up in the hills though :(
