Ditch the 70-200 + 85 and get a 70-200 IS II :)

Someday... Even selling the two I'm still quite a bit short of a IS II

Though I don't know if I'll ditch the 85 1.8... the extra 4/3's of a stop can be useful..

Not as useful as 4-stop IS ;) no seriously a 2.8 zoom with a 4-stop IS is a BIG game changer. This is the lens I've had the longest. It is AND will be my favorite, no doubt about it.

Yeah... I know it's a big change, there have been plenty of times where the IS is of no use to me though and the extra stops are more important.

I'll get the 2.8 IS II eventually... and I'm sure I'll love it, though I will miss the smaller size and lightness of the F4 IS.

Off to bed. If I don't retain my sanity through tomorrow, I may find myself buying a new camera. :D

No, I've lugged the 2.8 IS around a lot for work... the size/weight is just one of the few advantages to the F4 IS over the 2.8 IS II... actually I think it's the only advantage...

You're saying you owned a 2.8 IS before?

There's a related benefit, in that the filters used by the f4 are substantially cheaper than the 77mm filters of the 2.8. But, that's nothing if you aren't a filter fan... or if you use Lee/Cokin/etc.

Not me. I may pick up an f4 again in the future, but the 2.8 is off the table. I used it too infrequently. For the price, the f4 IS has more bang for the buck... a lot like the 17-40L vs 16-35L. With regards to how you shoot, if you don't need that extra stop...

Work has one, so I've used it on several occasions.

Yeah, that's true.

You're just not a fan of that focal range though, so that's understandable. I love the F4 IS and am very happy with it, but there have been cases where the extra stop would be very nice, a lot of those times are situations where it actually would be nice to have a 1.4x extender and get the extra range while still shooting at F4 though.

I was using mine as a permanent 140-400mm f/5.6 IS :D That's no way to live life. I barely ever found the need for 70-200 range. For me, it's either go wide, go long, or go home

I am REALLY loving shooting wide these days.
