Harm, you should try out a Zeiss lens. It would seriously change your mind about L glass. :)

I like the Zeiss look.

Try a Leica M system. It will force you to learn MF. :p

I had an M8 at one point, sensor was horrible.

I have no issues with MF and would prefer the focus assist of the rangefinder box over the "zoom in" focus assist most modern cameras have. Peaking mode is nice also but a bit slower.

How does the Zeiss 35 compare with the Canon equivalent?

Blows the canon 35 out of the water. The canon 35 needs to be updated with the optics of the 24L II. It is an old lens.

2002 would have been better, from a recent period of time... from $7 tp $677 today...not a bad return..

Facebook though :D:D:D:D

I would have been ok with Apple stock from 2010... it's more than tripled...

The M9 was a big improvement but, I'm dying to see the specs of the M10.

Even the 35 f2 ZE blows out the 35 L at similar apertures.

Zeiss will announce a 55 ZF.2 f1.4 lens at Photokina. I bet this lens will kick butt!

Interesting! I was wondering what Zeiss was working on next. I wonder why a 55mm instead of just re-doing their 1.4/50?

NICK:

The price point on the Kindle Fire HD you were wondering about:

The standard 8.9-inch Kindle Fire HD is priced at $299 with 16 GB, but Amazon is also offering a $499 Kindle Fire HD with 4G LTE model that bumps storage to 32 GB. The LTE model comes with a data package costing $49.99 per year that offers 250 MB per month of data, 20 GB of cloud storage, and a $10 Amazon Appstore credit. Both models ship on November 20. Amazon is also introducing a 7-inch 16 GB Kindle Fire HD for $199 that begins shipping on September 14, but details on differences from the 8.9-inch model such as screen resolution are not yet clear.
