About a year ago I bought a cheapo tablet with stock android, and it was pure crap. Slow as hell, couldn't play anything. Most functions didn't work, and it didn't even have the proper drivers for the wifi module. I put ice cream sandwich on my hp touchpad using the cyanogen mod, and it wasn't much better. Couldn't play videos. Couldn't install or run any game apps. So yeah, I'll take the devices that have been heavily supported, thanks. Stock android gives me that "running linux" feeling.

Well that's the companies fault... I'd rather have the Nexus 7 over a 7" Fire HD.

After reading the release info, I'll take a new kindle over an ipad. I'm conflicted over taking the 9" model with the $50 annual data plan, vs the HD 7" model. I really, really like the portability of the 7", especially when out shooting birds. I've got 3 birding apps on my Kindle Fire :)

But you get a major res boost going with the 9".

nexus 7 is $50 more than the kindle fire 2 at 16gb. That's kind of significant. Also, I have amazon prime, so going with the Fire is the clear choice.

If I had to pick one, I'd pick 8.9in "Her Delight", that's ribbed right? Wait... what are we talking about again?

I am so tired, I want to sleep... but I am at school because I don't want to waste the time or gas driving home between my class and my later school commitments :(

You mean the Kindle Fire HD? THe Kindle Fire "2" is something totally different. There are 3 current gen Kindle Fire's, the "new" Kindle Fire, the Kindle Fire HD 7" and the 8.9".

Also, they make apps for almost all of the Amazon prime stuff you gain by going with the Fire.

I just don't think the 7" is attractive at all, if I was getting a fire it would be the 9".
