Keep the lens caps on while in the field?

Heat a needle over flame and punch two small holes into that cap>thread a 12" length fo fishing line through the holes and through a rubber band>attatch the rubber band to your lens and voila...the cap is always handy.

i left my front lens cap off, i leave my hood and a filter on it so im not worry about scratching, only a lil dust. nothign a blower cannot get rid of. i keep the read lens cap on.

Oh now you've done it........Now we'll see the filter/no filter debate again.

I use UV filters, typically have the hood on, no hood for the kit lens, rear cap always, haven't messed with a front lens cap on a lens for more than 5 years and I don't really intend to. With a little proper care and regular cleaning (done by me no need to send it off), I'm yet to have any issues. And surprisingly enough, still no need to replace the UV insurance filter, even though I do like the piece of mind.

I keep both caps on.
