Just learned that I can hold down the af button and while focus manually will get a confirmation when my focus point comes into focus.(I know I'm a bit slow)

Problem is, when I just tried it with my 100mm macro 2.8(non L) I dont get confirmation when my focus has been achieved. Is this lens not capable or is there something possibly wrong(lens or settings wise)?

But hey, they say it's not the gear right:rolleyes:

Camera must be in One-Shot mode to get confirmation.

I have the 100mm macro non L, it does give me confirmation on One Shot and Ai Focus by just half pressing the shutter button.

i just tried it now for you in both Manual Focus and Auto Focus.

Weird. Thanks for testing on your end. I'll try again tomorrow. As of now, I'm not sure what the problem may be.

Tried again today and still no luck. When focus is on auto it beeps and blinks red when confirmation is achieved. When its on manual and I place the focus point on something and get clean focus, I get ZERO confirmation... no beep or blinking red.

When I use my 50mm 1.4 and its on manual, when focus is clean(where the af point is located) it continues to beep and blink red. My 100mm macro just doesnt. *lost*

Low light?

I've had similar problems with my 70-200 in low light. Okay in auto but painful in manual. Have you tried outdoors in the sunlight?

Big dreams, small wallet.
