I have a 5DII and I'm wanting to photograph multiple 30 second exposures during a sunset. What would be the best shooting mode for this? Set it in manual to say 30sec at f/11, Auto ISO for example and let it roll? I wouldn't think shutter priority would be a good mode since I wouldn't want the aperture to change.....I have a remote with a locking switch on it as well. Might try this tonight :)

Usually just leave it on ISO 100 and adjust the exposure time accordingly in M mode.

Why not just meter the scene, decide on proper ISO, compensate if necessary, then shoot in manual(with self timer and MLU if needed)?

Thanks :). I'm wanting to do something around a 5 minute exposure and see what happens. Think I'll just experiment on different modes and see which one works best

I find manual to be easiset for me. I take a guess at what my settings should be, set them, then check the metering the camera gives me and readjust. Then I set my intervalometer and use it to actually take the shots. I've gotten pretty good at adjusting my intervalometer on the fly as the sun goes down :-)

Do you mean you're changing the interval as the sun drops? Or changing the exposure?

I'm glad Canon_Shoe posted this. I've been meaning to try a TL sunset as well.
The TL's I've done so far have been in fairly consistent light, so I haven't had to think too hard! I do have Magic Lantern on one of my bodies, which does bulb ramping, but I've never tried it - just used my intervalometer at consistent settings.

I change the exposure length on the fly. But changing any setting is pretty easy on my cheapo intervalometer. And I've gotten pretty good at guessing the correct exposure time when adjusting on the fly.
