... and wondering best way to prevent it.
This is the result of a 5 bracket tone map in Photomatrix Pro with some additional processing in Topaz Labs Adjust 5.

I think the halo is coming from the adjust processing but it doesn't show up in the image inside photoFXlab.

Would appreciate any suggestions for how to prevent it from happening.

Thanks,

Here's what I've picked up on from my experiences...............

Some images lend themselves to halo more easily, whether it be from a different mix of exposures to what's actually in the image. Trees seem to draw halos for no reason. I have a 3 exposure panorama that no matter how much I laid off the processing, there's halo around the trees. Hell, I even processed with one exposure with nothing done outside of Lightroom and all in all, it's pretty natural and there's still a slight halo around the trees. Seems like buildings have the same issue and although I haven't looked into this aspect, maybe it's more due to lighting as the image I spoke of was taken at high noon and it appears your image was taken in the middle of the day. That might be an issue.

Another thing, the adaptive exposure function in Topaz Adjust tends to draw out the halos pretty easy. I stay away from this adjustment for the most part.

Those are just my thoughts on the issue.

Adjust your "Strength" slider also . Too much will add halos around most objects and horizons .

Thanks,
I'll have another go at it tomorrow taking your suggestions into account.
Then report the results.

Same as celestron, Ive noticed I get fringing sometimes when my Saturation or Luminance is too strong of a certain color next to a contrasting colored object like the sky often does..

You got to touch them up by hand with brushes and remove the filtering in that area of the halo.
