Hi guys, I have a little issue with my canon 60D. I'm shooting some interior pics for a kitchen catalogue and they all came out not perfectly sharp. I sent one sample pic to the Canon technical support but they keep saying that the pic is perfectly sharp. Is there anybody out there who wouldn't mind giving a look at my pic and tell me his-her opinion?
I checked every possible setting on the camera and everything seems fine. On my part I really can't find anything that I could have done wrong. I also used 2 different lenses with the same soft focus result which makes me think it's not the lenses either.

Do you have a sample pic? With EXIF?
What lenses?
If you do not have a sample photo with EXIF, do you remember settings? f-stop, ISO, shutter speed?

Interior ? Are you using a flash or strobe ? How well lit is the subject ? Exif settings from the pic, and posting the pic itself- will help immensely. Proper lighting is critical indoors - especially for sharpness / softness issues.

Which lenses ?

EOS 5D III, EOS 7D,EOS Rebel T4i, Canon 70-200 f/2.8 IS II, Canon 24-105L, Canon 18-135 IS STM, 1.4x TC III, 2.0x TC III, Σ 50mm f/1.4, Σ 17-50 OS, Σ 70-200 OS, Σ 50-500 OS, Σ 1.4x TC, Σ 2.0x TC, 580EXII(3), Canon SX-40, Canon S100
Fond memories: Rebel T1i, Canon 18-55 IS, Canon 55-250 IS, 18-135 IS (Given to a good home)...

This exact thread from the same poster is on another web site as well.

Bump up sharpness and contrast in your camera, it may be set to zero. If Canon says its ok than it is just the setting in your camera that needs correction.

Wayne the lighting in this showroom is pretty terrible. No natural light just the beams you see in the pics and a few more on the ceiling. Originally they were supposed to pay for the strobe rental but they changed their mind. As for the flash I did use mine in a couple of pics but I didn't like the effect. Do you think I should give one more try to the flash?

tccin since I'm shooting both jpeg and raw and only using the raw files I don't need to set sharpness and contrast on my camera.

I supposed the white balance can be adjusted for an overall improvement of the colour?

alwaysDSLR thanks for your reply. I'm not concerned with white balance since I'm using the raw files. The issue is the sharpness.

Did you add sharpness in post? Also, why are you shooting raw and jpeg if you're only going to use raw?

Sharpness in the cam will affect the jpeg. F13 is not ideal for sharpness. Do you need to shoot at that setting for DOF? F8 would be better if you can get away with it wrt DOF.

no the jpeg I posted is exactly how it was shot but the problem is that the raw file looks more or less the same and even after fixing the sharpness in raw I still see that annoying soft focus. I'm using the raw files but I like to have jpegs in case my clients want to see the pics right away. I went for f13 because I was trying to have a good dof without long exposure time. Do you think F8 might work better? I'll give it a try. Also, I used to have a canon 7d which got stolen so maybe I was just used to that camera...much sharper pics. Thanks for your reply.
