M17 Swan/Omega in Ha

Got this the other night, but it went below my horizon before I could finish the RGB. Thought I'd post the Ha in the meantime. I've never imaged M17 before, and it's bright core is a bit of a challenge not unlike M42, although to a lesser extent.

It is a tough one to image but you did very good ! Got tons of data and yes it's quite different from M42 .

Want to buy a telescope and get into astro. Just not sure what to get ? There's a few sales on atm

@Desertraptor - careful mate. It's an expensive and slippery slope :) I started off with a Skywatcher ED80. Can be bought for a few hundred bucks. You'll need to budget a field flattener though, as there is a bit of curvature in them. The mounts are where it's at, too. Basic starter goto mount with guiding capability runs around $1000-1500. Check out IceInSpace, Aussie-based astro forum.

Just get a good mount with some sort of autoguider setup, most of your lenes you already have will keep you going for some time yet.

Have you added any colour to this yet. I love the fine detail and res you get the a mono cam and a good scope like this.

G'day mate. I have some colour data, but not overly happy with the results. Might have to revisit. I'm off to Astrofest in the morning, so if get a chance might add some there. If not, when I get back.
