I too ordered the 15-85 and just received it today and wow, it is much heftier and beefier than I thought it was going to be. It is a really nice looking lens. On random quick shots it looks sharp to me. Going to spend all day shooting with it tomorrow :D

Just received it. Wouaaah heavy indeed. And huge. It feel barely ok on the T3i. After shooting few shots indoor, it's really sharp and focus well. The zoom ring is very smooth... quite different from my cheaper lenses.

I am use to carry my cam in my hand, without a strap. I think I'll have to pass the strap around my neck for this one.

The extra 3mm on the wide end really make a difference.

Like I said earlier, go out and play with it... send some samples :)

Hehe I would really like it but sadly it's night here on the other side of the planet. I will not have time to go shoot until the 22. 22 and 23 I go for a holiday with the step parents at some resort or Ryokan I suppose. I plan to use the lens on this trip a lot. However it's hard to get serious about photograpy with the wife and kids. My kids (6 and 8) now hate my camera because I "ignore" them when I'm shooting.

Ok!! I might slip out tomorow morning get few samples!!

Wouah lucky you! Nop, mines get angry or monkey when I try to photograph them. Probably their mom's genetics! :p I have to go all camouflage and take them unaware.

@iggyhusband; check that: between 15 and 20mm, big difference. Between 70 and 85mm, almost nothing. I though it was a lousy mechanism from Canon but it's the same thing between 70 and 85 on my 55-250mm. Strangely obsessing!

I don't think it's a Canon thing, just a physics thing. Have fun with the new lens, I hear its a good one.

Hehe, apparently mileage may vary about that... I just love the feel and heft of my 15-85 on the T2i (which I assume to be not too different from the T3i).

But seriously, I think you'll get used to it, once you forget how your camera felt with your kit lens on.

Have fun with it!

Try and take some photos of something outdoors that's bright and colourful, I think you'll be impressed with this lens saturation and contrast qualities. :)

Here you go. Went out between 4 and 7pm. The lens is really good! I am really glad I chose this over the 17-55, really. I used the wide and the long end mostly.
