For buildings, full streets and other non moving subjects, it's going to do the job handheld. True. The IS is good enough. However I switch to primes anyway except if I need the 15mm end.

The IS is quite good, allowing handheld down to 1/8 second with reasonable consistency. You have to like 'people in motion' blurring, though - otherwise, you need a fast prime to stop the motion.
