Used to be if you were an idiot you had to at least be a wealthy one to get your crap idea on the screen or into an edit suite…… Edit suite, theres another one.

Edit suite, that a disappearing term nowadays, I am in the process of assisting a local radio station transition from utilizing contract videographers (us) to moving at least some of the work in-house, last Monday I met with the General Manager who after getting over the sticker shock of the cost of the hardware and software needed to edit video we moved the discussion as to where in the station to set all the equipment up.

The GM had this brilliant idea to utilize an existing unused audio editing booth and asked me if I thought it would work, I looked at the “booth” and yes that was an excellent name for it as it was literally just a tad larger than a phone booth, I looked back at the GM and he replied “well” I again looked at the booth and shook my head to which he replied “too small” to which I answered “Jim that’s the understatement of the year my man.”

This morning I got a call from the stations program director and he jokingly called to let me know I really stirred up a pot of muck on Monday and that last night the news directors office was emptied to become the editing suite and all of the news directors “stuff” was now crammed into the sports directors office, the GM deciding being as they are both directors they can share an office… ;-)a

I’ll bet when I show up there next week I will be feeling the love from both of them.

I have literally edited in the back of a car. Of course that is bigger than a phone booth. I remember when i started in this business, a cool million for the room alone was not considered that outrageous. Boy how thing have changed.

BTW love the avitar.. I have felt that way too too often.

First step........ Take the lens cap off.

Darn Wayne, so you're trouble in the real world too, huh? ;) ;)

thats a funny story. And yes, you might want to hire a body gaurd while working at that station. Two "directors" in one office! Unheard of blasphamy!!!! :D Nicely done!

Been there, done that, I just use the front seat a little cramped but the air is nice and cool and I can jack the laptop into the cars audio system elminating the need for headphones.

I doubt I will need a bodyguard, but I will be sure not to leave any of my open cans of Pepsi un-attended.
