After reading so many good reviews from folks like yourselves and also seeing it win awards in Photo Mags I went and bought the....

Sigma 18-50 f/2.8 EX DC

I have often found the kit 18-55 good and often found it not so good (soft).

I just hope the Sig is 6 times better....seeing as it cost 6 x more :D

Looking forward to some good sessions with it!

The kit lens has a certain reputation but it's actually Ok. I quite liked mine and miss not having it kickin' around my bag anymore. The 18-50 2.8 EX is very nice!

The Sigma 18-50 EX is the lens in my panel that is the sharpest under 30mm.

And I have about err... 50 lens or so (stopped counting ! ) :D

In the "affordable" set of lens on a x1.6, it's the best one can get I think. Because if you look at all the other "wideish" zooms/primes, them are a LOT more expensive and/or a lot bigger.
