I can't believe he could have taken many composed shots. He certainly wouldn't have had too much time to play around with shutter speed or aperture or other camera settings. Knowing what the event was could shed some light, but I'm trying to imagine what he got out of it.

Well for example, Today i took pictures of the Ducks. I've been watching them grow for a Week. I took 72 Pictures of just the Ducks. 238 Total Pictures for the entire Day. I pretty much just walk around every other Day and Take Pictures. The Guy above was spot on i think. I'm just in my Experimental Stage. I'm not really waiting for that Moment to happen like i want to yet. I don't feel like i'm ready. But i still come out with some Great Pictures Regardless, But when i'm put on the Spot, I fall apart like a loose Halloween Mask.

DJHaze, you're commenting on posts that are referring to the guy that says he took over 10,000 shots in 14 hours, not you.

My comment was intended for sempaidavid who took 10,000 shots in 14 hours, not you!:) BTW, I love your closeup of the duck's head.

It would've been very difficult to do. If each photo was 18MB (I think 7D files range 17-22MB or so) then he would've needed at least 175GB of cards. Plus the battery lasts around 800 shots, so 13 batteries would've been needed. A very tough task to pull off.

I think he was either pulling our collective legs or maybe accidentally added an additional 0 to the amount. 1K in 14 hours would be very doable.

Haha. No problem. The shot of the duck's head is a good one. Keep clicking away.

I think you're right. 1k would make a lot more sense.

BTW I notice the only hardware you show is the D800. Just curious why you chose to participate in a Canon centric forum. I would think much of it would hold little value for you. Are you an ex Canon shooter?

it looks like you are enjoying your hobby, keep up the shutter clicking, sooner or later you'll figure out when to pull the trigger------>wait for that decisive moment.

Yes I am. I went XT, T3i, 5D, 5D Mark II, and now D800. I joined here as a Canon user, and now shoot Nikon. I really enjoy this forum (I'm a member of 3 others, but this one is definitely the best from an info/sharing standpoint) so I keep posting.

Thanks, I was just curious.

My Rebel XT had well over 150,000 actuation's on it and it still works like it came out of the box. It all depends on how well you take care of it

Shampoo sounds like an unfortunate name for a hair product.
You're a ghost driving a meat-coated skeleton made from stardust, riding a rock, hurtling through space. Fear Nothing!

Not necessarily. A shutter could fail at any point in time. Sure, taking good care of a camera will go a long way in making it last, but a shutter could fail at any time regardless of shutter count.

Not really, he could have been doubling or tripling up the shutter. Some people shoot that way.
