The top image is of the rest of the east wall (south end) and the other is of the east 1/3rd of the north wall. In the first image you will see a flag on the south east wall. That has been replaced with my latest invention "The Machine" which you will see shortly.

The first image is of 1/2 of the south wall, and the second image is of 1/2 of the west wall.

Lastly, this is "The Machine" that I built this past winter and is in the south east corner of my upstairs camera room. This set is about 12 x 9.

Wow, these setups look so nice and simple and I'm over here spending close to $2,000 dollars on my setup. Maybe I'm thinking too high for a beginner. I'll post pics of my studio soon.

I dont think your over doing it. I am too a "beginner". I dont have any studio experience really, but ive been shooting for a while. Recently i wanted to get started and my price tag for a Light Meter + Strobes are about $2500

That consists of one L-358 Light Meter, Alien Bee Buzy Bee setup (4 Strobes + softboxes & accessories) And one Green Screen / ChromaKey backround to start with.

Im just a serious hobbiest, I dont even shoot as a profesion.

I too hope to post some pictures of my setup soon

If you got the $, and want to go big, DO IT!

Mark these as "first attempt at a studio type thing" rather than "studio" :)

Roommate is behind the camera, his girlfriend is the model. Lights are (for the moment) three Office Depot lamps with 150W equivalent daylight flourescents. Backdrop is a black/beige two sided sheet sewn from some fabric, hanging from a shower curtain rod in the doorway. Lighting is still a bit... dim. We're still debating on turning the sun room (other side of the sheet) into a studio and sacrificing the dining room (which we never use) to be the "darkroom".

Pardon my ignorance, but what are the rolls of what looks like paper that hang from the ceiling? Is that literally a roll of white/colored paper that you pull down and then rip off at the end of the shoot? That's cool.
