Already have the 100mm 2.8 macro - worth looking at the 100 f2 ??

Well the subject says it, is it worth considering?

I'd say no since you also already have the 85, but it depends on the reasons you're considering owning both. Why would you want both?

Just saw one pretty cheap £279, it wouldn't have replaced as the 100mm is also a cracking macro, so just thinking.

I may try the 135mm one day though.

Well if your having the 100mm F2.8 and the 85mm F1.8 I wouldn't buy the 100mm F2 unless you have too much money....

I agree with Nightdiver13 and misty66 as to no. Mostly since you have the 85mm, but since you have the 100 macro too, seems silly. Actually seems like you have GAS.

Two exceptions. First would be is if it is absolutely by far, without a doubt, wholeheartedly, (you get the idea) your favorite FL. Then sell the 85mm after you get it. Second was if you found it cheap, and I mean cheap. I went online for the conversion of £279 and that is equivalent to about $438. That is not even close to what I call very cheap.

To me - cheap is relative to how much money one has, and to whether one needs (or really really wants) the lens or not.

The 135L (or 135 SF) are easily different enough to warrant/justify getting them, even when already owning the 85mm f/1.8 and 100mm macro.

Just my opinions!

Thanks for Reading & Good Luck - Jim

Unless you feel you don't need to close focus of the 2.8 macro, and you could stand to sell it, I wouldn't add the 100 f/2 as long as you also have the 85 1.8.

The 100 f/2 is excellent, but that's a little redundant when it comes to focal length for my tastes. It doesn't produce the same wicked bad CA as the 85, though.

I have both the 100mm 2.8 L and the 100mm f2. I admit it is overkill. However I use them for completely different situations. The 2.8 for macro of course, but also anytime I need IS, like shooting in museums. The f2 I use for portraits or anytime I need that narrow dof. Since you already have the 85mm and the 100mm 2.8, perhaps a 135mm f2 might make more sense than adding another 100mm.

Lol, that's a no then :)

The reason I asked is that sometimes there's a hidden gem (I only heard of the 135 fairly recently) and 279 is some £80-90 cheaper than elsewhere over here so round 2nd hand prices so actually pretty good (that's why we often import!)

No, as well, why do you need the faster lens other than bokeh, which won't be that much different.
If you need a faster lens just up the iso on your 5dm3 body instead
