Here's my contribution to this thread. These were taken at a private party many years ago when she was still young and innocent .

That is a pretty cool setup! My question is this, it looks to me like the plastic covering the lens should be drooping covering the end of the lens. What type of lens/camera protection is this device?

looks like a generic plastic bag to me.

btw, that singer in the photos above.......is it bad that I have no idea who it is? or does that just mean I'm getting old !?

It looks like the red writing on the bottom says Rain Sleeve which is made by Op/Tech. They usually have a string to tighten it against the hood but it looks like this guy removed it.

Both! Seriously, how can it be bad unless, you're in the "need to know" basis? If you have young age children, you may know who that is. So, don't feel bad.

And you, you must have young children around? You got it right. Yes, it was Miley Cyrus.

When Miley took out the camera, everyone were screaming. The sound of little kids and young teenagers sceaming around me was sheer terror. Ooooh, did I held that shutter button down. It was a fun party indeed.

I normally don't go through the trouble to sign my photos. With this one, I must. I'm sure if someone wants it badly enough, s/he can remove it. These are small files; I guess, it's okay. I still have the original size files for proof that I was the photographer.

Heh! I'm in the "club", I don't watch the "pop" musicians, and I'm too old to remember who I've seen even if I did see one! Heck, I don't even know if my daughter would recognize her (she turns 39 this year)!

It's funny, even though I hear the "name" Miley Cyrus plenty, but I had never actually watched a performance or even looked closely at a performance, until that time a few months ago when she did that duet (was it at the MTV awards?) wearing that outlandish costume.

I didn't bother watching the video until that original Star Trek alumnus George Takei came up with a very funny mix of clips from the perforance with old Star Trek clips showing the "team" staring at this odd "apparition" on the screen, then getting worked up because they figured they were heading into a sheer disaster!

I admit, I thought it was funny, and that's OK, since I'm not one of the "Miley haters" out there, I mean, she's young enough to be my grand-daughter!

As mentioned earlier, the photos were taken at a private party that I was invited. It was a free concert. Otherwise, photography wouldn't be allowed. Do you know Billy Ray Cyrus, the country music singer? Miley is his daughter.

I'm like you, "not young" and no children. I only knew her through the Disney TV network. I liked the way she used to be. Don't know what happened with her, why she changed overnight. Too much stardom, I guess.

Anyway, let's not derailing this thread and turn it into "Miley Cyrus".

The concert event gave me opportunity to learn how to photograph a concert. I used my 70-200 f/2.8 on the 40D to snap these photos. At the time, my 40D was in service (CF connector replacement). A kind friend lend me his 40D to use that day.

I recently obtained a 6D. I'm so glad that it uses SD memory cards instead of CF cards. Those pins from the connector are easy to bend and break off.

Calling my brother a "photographer" is a bit of a stretch... but here he is with his camera
