Okay, I'm sold. When I win the lottery (because I will, my wife says so, lol) I'll get one BUT only if:

1) it'll take a 500mm
2) one can mount a couple of Sidewinders and an ECM device.

(option two is a must, I would potentially offer some leeway with option one).

A Nitesun Spotlight would also be nice. I'd probably want some nice LEDs as well.

Seriously though, it's great. The potential here is just way out there.

It's much cheaper than you think to set up a basic quad/hexa/octocopter. They can fit them with autopilots, return to base, HUD, you name it. It's similar to remote control choppers to fly (I.E is a very steep learning curve) I have a few mates that are into them. I have had a bit of a go as I have flown RC planes for years, and it is tricky! A lot of guys end up putting gopros on them for both recording and for flying with goggles from the ground. (FPV) mainly due to the weight to quality ratio.

Here is a good bloke down near Canberra way who sells all this stuff, and also a pre assembled pre flown and trimmed kit. http://www.mongrelgear.com.au/ (external link)
Of course there are a thousand vendors world wide for this gear nowdays. The biggest issue in Aus is the legality of video and radio outputs needed for good reliable long range setups. You basically have to break the law to get the range you'll see in the long range videos on youtube etc. If you want to stay legal you basically get to fly around a footy oval before you start getting drop outs in video signal.

Fricks: that's a cool vid!

Guys - enough already. This thread is called "Show me your photographers", not "Lets discuss female butts".

Please stop it. Thank you.
