Why'd you get rid of them both? The 50mm is so cheap that it's not one of those lenses that you really have to sell to buy other gear and you haven't replaced it with the f/1.4 or f/1.2, and the 1D is of course and awesome camera that you buy because you need the features it offers, did the type of photos you take change (e.g stop shooting sports)?

I sold the 50 because I have the 40 2.8 Pancake and the 100mm f2 (which I like better on full frame). I don't like having too much gear, I prefer to have fewer lenses that have heavy rotation, rather than a bunch of gear that collect dust 99% of the time. I can always buy another one for what I sold mine for.

As for the 1D3, I sold it because it was a camera I bought because I *WANTED* it, not because I *NEEDED* it. It's a great camera, I loved it while I owned it, I sold it to the dollar for what I paid for it, so I basically rented an amazing camera for free for a year and a bit.

I've always shot landscapes, cityscapes, travel, etc so the 5D-series is much better suited to my style of shooting. I switched almost a year ago and haven't looked back (though days like today - with the typhoon approaching - make me wonder if I should pick up an slightly beat up, older 1D2 or something as a second body just to have something tough kicking around that I don't mind getting wet/dirty).

Only keeping the Mk2 until I send it out to get a clean and check, but for now, it's my family!

Definitely worth giving up those 2mp. You can always hold onto the 1000D anyway for stuff that might require a higher res and live view like macros. Good choice on the 30D, if there's one thing I hate about my 20D it's the tiny screen,

It looks like your lens almost does not fit that tiny rebel!
