Butterfly

Moths are more active at night, have furry antennae, and usually do not rest with their wings up.

Nice image.

Thanks for the info Doug, will keep that in mind. Thanks Rick! They sure enjoy those thistles, there were 3 different butterflies & some Goldfinch there as well.

Those purple thistles always seem to be popular with the butterflies. If I'm not mistaken, that's some sort of Fritillary.

I think your right Bill.. I googled it & got 'Great Spangled Fritillaries', common in my neck of the woods. This image could be male & female than. Thx for leading me to an id :D
