great news,

I was perusing the website this morning, trying to find some type of phone number I could call (no luck), but it turns out, ironically, that the actual store is only about half an hour from my parent's house in Buffalo. This makes me feel a bit more secure, knowing I can always just drive down there and get a replacement. As a result I think I will be purchasing from here over the weekend. Wish me luck!

Good luck, seriously. If you can actually get the real deal for this price, that would be great. Keep us posted on what happens and how they treat you.

Why not have mom do a drive-by since it's so close, and see if she can talk to anyone there? "Hello, my son is going to order from you and I want to make sure you are all nice boys and girls..." ;-)a

Alright, this is slightly off topic from the original post but.......I'm so close to ordering and decided to take one last look at a slightly cheaper online vendor that seems to have a pretty good reputation www.buydig.com (external link) -- and compare them to www.newegg.com (external link) who I've more or less convinced myself to buy from.

Buydig actually just dropped their price to $519 (just this afternoon). Tempting cause Newegg is still $559. Seems like a good deal right? Wrong! This has probly been mentioned here before but, here are the comps of the final prices for each:

FEDEX OVERNIGHT:
Newegg -- $581.60 (22.60 shipping)
Buydig -- $593.95 (74.95 shipping)

FEDEX 2 DAY:
Newegg -- $570.80 (11.80 shipping)
Buydig -- $568.95 (49.95 shipping)

FEDEX SAVER:
Newegg -- $559.00 (shipping is free)
Buydig -- $553.95 (34.95 shipping)

GROUND (10 DAY):
Newegg -- N/A doesn't have this as an option
Buydig -- $543.95 (24.95 shipping)

That settles that. I mean that's just ridiculous. Not to mention a tad insulting. There's no such thing as a free lunch and I'm way too excited about this camera to cope with any store problems. T minus -- 10 days to G3!

MattJS,
Check out BeachCamera.com. $512 + 19.95.

I got my G2 LE there (brand new, boxed, full US warranty) and I opted for the 10 fed ex ground. It arrived in 3 days.

Beach does look pretty good. And knowing you had no problems makes em look even better. Thanks.

And thanks for that link Tim. It's great to get a little head start.

Well crew I've been followiung the forum for the past week, and drooling over the G3 for the past 8 months. The Site from above listing the G3 for $349 responded to my email saying they are out of stock for two to three months...

I immediately bit the bullet and ordered from Beach, however their site says they will ship in 2-3days...Hmmmm...

Hope to be joing you soon.

Uh huh, right. I wonder what their price will be then. Or should I say how much longer it'll be then.

Anyway, good luck. You'll be joining us soon enough!

But of course they are. And they won't likely EVER be in stock at that price, IMHO.

I went ahead and used MP Superstore, used coupon code "pdac" to get it down to 516.00, and took advantage of the $100.00 MSN dollars "rebate"/credit whatever thingy going on until the end of this week. So net of $416.00 is a good enough price to put up with the bit of annoyance of them trying to sell me accessorioes at 3x retail price. The moron on the phone tried to tell me that the battery would only last 1/2 hr so I just HAD to get another one! I informed him that I had read all the reviews and know the battery lasts 4+ hrs, but thanks for the helpful info anyway. The MSN Dollars are not as good as a cash money check, but I'll proably use it at circuit city online to get a bigger memory card, so it's cool.

Certainly:

Should get you started. As with all things for free, there are catches - you'll have to decide if they are worth it for you. The credit has to be spent in the online stores shown on the link above. The credit only becomes available to you in August and must be spent before the end of October. And if I read the small print correctly, all items in a given store MAY not be available. That last one is the one that concerns me the most.

Thanks for the tip.... I went ahead and order my G3 from this site using the MSN Wallet... it came out to $553.01 including shipping and handling with a reward of $100 MSN dollars. Yeah I had to call them back to "verify" some information but they werent that pushy after I told them that I had already bought everything that they were offering me.... so now I'm just waiting on my new toy and my $100 MSN dollars to get some more accesories for the G3.
Thanks Again

Sounds like my experience exactly. They are a little slow to ship (well, I confirmed on Monday, they shipped on Wed - not really THAT slow, but hey, I'm used to dealing with B&H), and the shipping cost is preposterous ($36 for ground, actual UPS cost for this package is $ 8.00 ) , but all in all I decided it was worth it. Now, tomorrow I find out if they ship exactly what they say (New, US warranty, all items included) and if so I'll breathe a sigh of relief.

Yep, got it Friday, pretty quick for UPS ground. Everything was there, US warranty, it was pretty obvious that it was all brand new, never opened. So, a good transaction! Even passed the dead-pixel test with flying colors :)
