So yesterday, when at the beach, my girlfriend agreed that I could take some head shots of her. This is what I got. I am trying to bring impact within the eyes. Any help/advice would be great. Thanks!

Thanks.

Well, I've only done a brightness/contrast change on these at the moment.

not that i know what im talking about but i think #2 might have benefited from having the focus off her hairline and on her eyes?

i like them all though. much better than anything i shoot....

Indeed, but I was getting a bit trigger happy, so that was because she looked away as she started laughing. It wasn't a pose :)

Thanks.

All three are good, but of the three... I would say the first one is the best.

When doing portraits, one trick I use is to set the camera's focal point to one of the subject's eyes. It adds a couple of seconds to set up, and once it is there, you should be able to track an eye for several shots without changing the focus point.
When I move into post processing, once I have the shots I want to keep, I manually select the eye region and apply either a Unsharp Mask sharpening, or a Local Contrast sharpening to just the eyes. You can use whatever sharpening tool(s) you prefer.

BTW, this applies to wildlife photography as well.
