Got a jessops 360afd couple weeks back and it was fine the day I got it. Put it back in box with batteries still in took it out to use today replaced batteries with new ones as presumed they would have drained , now flash won't do anything not even turn on . Anyone experience this before

Make sure that the new batteries are actually new and good. Check to see if you accidentally installed one or more batteries in the wrong direction.
I would suggest that you not get in the habit of storing your flash with batteries installed. Especially if you use alkalines. It is a bad habit that eventually leads to leaky batteries and corroded terminals.

Happy to hear you got it working. There should not be any kind of discharge period. Just install good batteries in the correct configuration and it should work.
