Cleaning removing glass elements - where?

So apparently my Canon CPS cleaning coupons expired and since I have to pay anyway - where do I send a lens that needs cleaning removing at least one glass element? I have one with a non-ignorable spec in the area used by FF cameras and I should get it done.

Any recommendation for places?

How much will this cost me?

My imagine composition sucks. I need a heavier lens.

All of the lens surface collects light for each part of the picture. The spec isn't affecting anything. If there are spots in your pictures, they are from dust on your sensor.

More than it is worth since it won't change your pictures. Lenses always have some dust in them. Canon even includes some dust from the factory and you will get more in there with time.

No they are not. Doesn't show up with any of the other lenses at same focal length and aperture.

In any case, Canon declined to service this lens as it is too far out of production. Meh.

I've had out of production lenses cleaned and repaired at a local Canon authorized camera repair shop. Probably there is someone in your area that does this.

Nope.

There are some independent shops, though, but then I can as well do it myself.

I'd like to see a pic of the lens and the offending spot. I'd think it would have to be pretty sizable to show up in your shots.

"Canon declined to service this lens as it is too far out of production."

that would have been helpful to know right off the bat what kind of lens you are sending in since you said that your certificates expired and that you were sending in a canon lens for service (assuming it was a recent/current on their list).

local repair shop would be the best course of action. or you can always get a lens spanner tool depending on whether the dust is on the front or rear elements. if the dust is on the inner elements, it is not worth the risk of bricking your lens.

It's a 28-70 f/2.8.

You realize that to show up in your pics that the spot on your lens would most likely have to be the size of a dime? Here's a good read if you don't believe me. http://www.lensrentals.com …e-apocalypse-of-lens-dust (external link)
