Is such a thing available? At the moment I use a piece of black card folded to 90 degree angle. Stays wedged in place when the screen is folded back onto the camera back.

Sounds pretty smart.

It works, but I would prefer a 'real' one if anyone knows if one is available.

Most of the sun hoods are designed for fixed LCDs, not the vari-angle LCD on the G12. You might see if something like this would work on your G12, but you would have to keep the screen folded against the back of the camera for it to work...I think.

Thanks Dennis. I think I'll stick to my piece of card, otherwise it looks as if my swivel screen will become redundant.

There is one other option...the optical (tunnel) viewfinder of the G12. That is our last resort option for most of us. It does not display any information, and it does not show 100% of the composition, but it does help in bright sunshine, etc..
