Folks I wanted to see if anybody has had an experience (positive or negative) with the CZ-like russian lenses:

Primarily I would ask if there are anyone used these glass and if there are any issues with AF or mounting incompetibilities.

Thanks, Chancellor.

I've used the Zenitar 16mm f/2.8 with a Digital Rebel. You need an M42 screw mount adapter and it's strictly manual focus-no AF capabilities. I bought it because a fisheye lens appealed to me, but I really didn't believe that I would use one enough to justify the cost of a Canon or Sigma.

sunbeast, thanks. It looks like the lenses on the link are for EF Canon standard and I was wondering if the functionality was different than what you have experienced with M-42 converter.

How did you like the quality of the pics?

My recollection is that the lens performed better than I anticipated relative to picture quality. In fairness to the lens, I was just beginning and didn't have a clue as to what I was doing (not that I'm much better now), and poor shots were as a result of my poor mechanics.

Actually they are selling you an m42-eos adapter with the lens if you read further down the page...

my zenitar came with the eos mount on it already. works fine and the pictures are as nice as I can expect from a $150 dollar lens. The peleng 8 is on my to "be had soon" list.

Plenty of info and assistance there. My CZJ 135mm is the best lens I've used and that includes several L's, SP's, Pro's and EX's. I'm still awaiting delivery of my 85mm 2.0 after a month but have no doubt when it arrives that it'll produce the goods. Seen plenty of good shots.

Looks like the AF with these lenses is out of question. Thanks for the info.
