With one of the bigger events of my season coming up I thought it time to post a few of my favorites from the last 2, one of which was a float fly & my first one. The local club bought a pit just up the road from my house just for the pond to add new venues to their "play time" and oddly enough that pit is where the majority of fill came from when I built my house many years ago.

This one has to be my favorite from the pond.

And my answer to the many questions as to whether I got the shot was yes, 7 frames of it. These are the first & 3rd, which make me really appreciate the slightly used 1D4 I bought in late May.

And they asked the same question on this high speed low pass.

And there's a reason why BOTH of them are holding this during the ground check. I've never seen one with that much power.

This one shows just how radical the throws are on the controls. The elevator is pretty much at 90 degrees.

For those wanting more these are from the first 3 albums in the link below.

Thanks Frank. There is a float plane event locally every summer but it conflicts with another event so I haven't been to it. For once I got to see one on a free weekend & it was interesting. Some of the smaller electrics don't actually seem to have the power for take off even though they are sold as pond fliers. They fly just fine with a hand launch but the extra drag of water was too much for them.

Thanks Randy. Hoping for great weather this Sat in the Kingston area The club there is hosting the 25 anniversary Giant Scale event & the layout there has the sun perfectly placed for photos most of the day. So far it looks like it will be bigger than last year which will make it the largest Giant Scale Fun Fly in Canada 2 years in a row.
