A "C" Word 3D

This is my first attempt at 3D. These shots were hand held, so please excuse the poor resolution, and lighting. My main goal is to see if I am on the right track with the effects. I will appreciate any comments.

I didn't want to offend anyone by using the actual word "Christmas". . .

Thats awesome John! Whats with the word Christmas? Dont tell me the word is not allowed?

Actually, there is a lot of controversy in the states about where you can use the word Christmas. There are people who get offended because kids have Christmas plays and concerts with a religious theme. It's getting a little crazy. We just have so many different beliefs here, that almost anything you do offends someone. That's why I just referred to it as the "C" word. . . .

The world has gone mad I tell ya! They have just stopped kids from sitting on Santa's knee over here in Australia.... quite sad I thought. Lots of Santa's have quit due to all the rules and regulations they have made this year.

That's an awesome 3D shot, John. My favorite so far out of all the 3D shots I've been seeing around here lately. I have to try and make some of these myself one of these days.

Sandi, you wouldn't believe it. In my town's public schools, my kids can't make Christmas cards, can't sing Christmas carols, can't have a Christmas tree, and can't even play Christmas melodies like "Silent Night" without the words because they are known Christmas songs. The best one is, they don't even allow red and green candy canes because they are considered Christmas colors. Imagine that, banning color combinations. I'm not even joking.

It's pretty sad actually. I feel bad for my kids missing out on all the stuff we had fun with as kids, but I feel more sad for the people who are associated with these other groups that have nothing better to do than figure out what to ban next, instead of realizing all the postiive effects these things have on our kids regardless of what religion they represent.

Yeah I hear ya Phil.. my kids no longer make any christmas decorations at school, and my 7 year old does not know any christmas songs, because they just dont teach it to them at school anymore! Geez the candy canes are going a bit far lol Unbelievable!
Yes I also think the kids are missing out on so much that I enjoyed as a kid! Who would think its less than a week til xmas ... sure doesnt feel like it anymore!

I have to agree this is one of the best 3D photos Ive seen!

As first attempts at stereo go they do not get much better than this You have clearly put much thought and effort into this as the results show. The vertical alignment is just about spot-on.

Would you like some pointers of a more advanced nature? If yes, issue a general statement of image editing being okay and I shall get back to you in this forum.

Great 3-D nice depth. Well I believe the Christmas theme should stay. Isn't the USA a country where freedom of everything was built. I dont under stand why we cant say anything about reliegon or god. I still say if they dont like the word GOD then go back to your motherland but leave all the money that has God written onit here. Sorry for the lecture. MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL

As your original vertical alignment was good, I took a central detail and fixed the rotational divergence. Like a pack of cards in the hand which have just been shuffled, certain cards have to be moved left and right to get all flush. I did that with the chips in your image. Also taking the foremost feature as the point to set the stereo window I pushed the whole scene back slightly. A recrop was necessary hence the new border. Further refinements would depend on a higher res file. I look forward to your next posting!!

Thanks Balliolman, it looks great. I'm not sure I totally understand exactly what you did, but it does look better to me. I obviously have lots to learn from you guys that have been doing this for a while.

I dont get what you guys mean by 3D, am I missing something?
