SanDisk went on sale this week. Thanks.

Is 30 MB/s a good speed for HD and SD video?

Also, I don't quite understand the difference between the two memory cards below and whether it'd be worth the extra money...:

or

Thank you!

The Sandisk Extreme 30 MB/S card will be more than adequate for your needs. UHS-1 is "Ultra High Speed - 1" spec. Much more than you need.

Canon recommends a Class 6 card (6 MB/s) or faster for recording HD movies, so, yes, these cards are fast enough. Your camera's HD video bit stream is 5.5 MB/s, so the card is 5 times faster than needed. UHS-I compliant cards are supported, but the camera does not take advantage of their increased bus speeds. So, unless you have a reason for the UHS-I speed other than use in your camera, it is not worth the extra money.

try sandisk extreme pro for video. Faster write times. I think the shut off is due to the buffer being filled, which is rather small on the t3i. Also from what I have gathered from another user on this site, PHOTOFAST makes extremely fast SD cards. They are a little more expensive than the average class 10 but they perform at the speed they claim.
