A little red square has started appearing on my images on the back of my camera. I know it's related to autofocus, but I can't figure out which custom function to change to disable this. Can someone please help me out? Thanks!

Look in the custom settings menu, you probably have the show autofocus point enabled.

I'm such a dork. I still can't figure out which custom function to disable. I've looked at all the autofocus functions. I back button focus. And I notice that the AF red square only appears when I lock the AF with my shutter release button. Does anyone know specifically which custom function combination disables this??? I've looked all over the web and also on this forum.

Playback 2 menu - AF Point Display - p. 145 of your manual.

Look in the manual. See page 221. If you don't have the manual, go to the second blue menu tab. What you are looking for is "AF Point Display". Disable it. The red dot will go away. It is NOT in the image, just displayed on your screen.

EDIT: As Jon says, it is also referred to on page 145.
