Is the #2 an improvement? (you can also critique the photos if you want too but primarily looking for watermark)

I like the text better. I think using Abby twice in 4 words is redundant though. Use your name, or your web address, but not both.

alright, which is better then, name or website? I was thinking the same thing, but until now never spent much time "focusing" on fixing it.

For best look and from a marketing stand point. Use only the website address. Text by the way, that pink one doesn't look professional if you ask me. Great images.

When I made the pink it was strictly for "watermarking dont steal my images" purposes, but I'd like to now spend a little more time making a "professional" one.

Is the font in #2 "ok"

Stan: On the website name: I picked that early on b/c the typical "such and such photos" was a bit boring. As I got more and more into it, I realized how "snaps" might appear to a photographer, especially after some of the language I've read here "snapshot vs photo, etc". I began thinking on this concept as well, thank you for mentioning it. On the other side: photographers distinguish between "snapshots" but do you all think a client will really care or notice? Were I marketing other photographers I'd say yes, but not sure if it will be impressionable on clients either good or bad. What do you think?

Another example of this is in my martial arts biz. When I was training many years I never understood why gyms that offered say taekwondo (korean martial art) put karate (japanese martial art, very different) on the sign. when I opened my biz and realized that the avg cust has no clue what is what it made sense. Now, for example I advertise "kids karate" for all of our programs, because to the average person, it's all "karate"....they dont have a clue as to the differences, etc. This is just an example but hopefully it helped illustrate my point.

Do you think it matters to customers just looking for some pics? I'm open either way. I have not started marketing my services and am still working on improvement at this time. My goal is by next year, but I would like to have everything ready by then.

I dont like snaps at all. I take your point, but to me it seems like you are lowering yourself to your audience rather than the other way around. It probably doesnt help that anytime I see snaps in a name, its almost always somebody whose pro aspirations are ahead of their skill level. Not saying that about you, but just a warning that you dont want to join that crowd.

Alright, I think I will make the watermark to #2 name only. I will change the website. Right now the only place it's put is on the watermark, which is only on a few images here. I don't promote it. I will spend some time thinking of something creative but better than before.

Ok hows this watermark. 2 Options: white font and no color. I found the white kind of ran into the white on some of my pics. Thoughts?

Instead of a transparent bevel/emboss, try keeping the solid white but putting a very thin black stroke around the letters. I think it looks classy as f***

clients are picky...some won't even talk to you if your name doesn't say studio after it....of course I live in the land of yuppie wine drinkers....who believe they are the only one on the planet.

the second ones the better of the two in my opinion.

I personally dont like either, i fonts used are just not attractive;
#1 is too scripty / vegas wedding
#2 looks like its meant to be your signature (handwriting font?) but it isnt...

note: the ''e'' after Malone has a different spacing to it, i dont think this is really a problem but it may be something just to test with equal spacing just so you can be 100% sure that doesnt look a little better, whether it does or not atleast you know, the little things do count :P

Drixar, I did pick this largely b/c it strongly resembles my handwriting, particularly that's how I write my "A". I also considered a more typewritten font. I will also check into the spacing on the "e", I did not notice that.

I def agree here too, that's why I'm trying to make some improvement. I initially threw the first one up quickly, and now it's time to spend some time thinking and working on this area. I have plenty of time before I plan to "do" anything more with this hobby. I will put some time into thinking about the fonts used, etc as well as a name.

What's everyone's thoughts on using your own name vs another name for your work?
ie: (such and such photography) or say "tennessee photography" or "(insert city) photography", or something else all together? I kind of like the name thing, but yesterday I looked for other domains for my name and there was not a lot of options.

I prefer "your name" photography over most of the made up names generally. Its to the point and it contains the basic info, who you are and what you do. If you get the right balance a business name can be good too, but so many of them are just terrible. Timeless moments, a moment in time, captured memories etc.... Blechhhh Keep in mind that its the work thats going to make the difference ultimately. Just dont get in the way of the work.
