So after fixing the focus on my 85mm (+7) this lens has been glued to the 7D. It's sharp as crap and super fast focusing which means it keeps up with my running around kids great. I now take it to 1.8 without any worries and the 7D AF nails the focus like you wouldn't believe. I have been learning alot with the my new 7D and how the AF works and I'm super impressed, however, now that I'm having such fun it makes me wanna ditch the Tamron and get the sig 30 1.4 or the canon 28 1.8. Maybe because I haven't dialed in my zoom's yet but it's just so reassuring that no matter what I throw at the 85mm that it just works. I want that for a normal range lens and I really want the 28/30.

I only have budget for one right now so I'm really thinking of selling the Tamron and going to a prime only main lens. am I committing suicide?

Whatever you do then, don't mount a 135l or Sigma 50 on there.

So looking at lightroom at the 3 70-200's I've owned 80% of the shots are either at 70, 130ish, or 200.

so to comment on your statement... your probably right haha.

I don't know, Look at LR and see where you are using the Tamron. That might give you your answer!

you're choices are limited as a crop shooter, go FF first, even if it's the 5Dc.

I would definitely get the Sigma 30/1.4, but I would save for it. I wouldn't trade the 17-50 for it. There just aren't many good prime options wider than 24mm unless yu want to sell a kidney for the 14/2.8L.

The Sigma 30 f/1.4 should spoil you real good at that focal length and I agree to not sell the 17-50 to afford it.

I owned the sigma 10-20 and liked it. If I want wider than 30 then I will own the 10-20 again.

man my bonus cannot come fast enough :D
