My son, Easton Robert, was born on Saturday 8/4 and I've been a little busy the weeks leading up to the birth and since. But, I managed to sneak out every now and then for a few shots.

As always, comments and especially critiques are very welcome - enjoy:

An evening on the Big Sucker Creek, normally a fast moving creek that empties into Lake Superior a few hundred yards after this point - a popular fly fishing destination:

And, since I'm addicted to showing the personality of Lake Superior from many points along it's shores, here are a few from various locations between Duluth and Two Harbors:

The next two images show a storm cell that produced a rare water spout tornado on the lake near Superior, WI:

Wow, great series. I like 2, 3 and the last two. What lens were you using? You really nailed the focus, nice and sharp.

I think all of these were taken with the Zeiss 21. My 24-105 is capable of making similar web sized images but the difference really shows in bigger prints. The ZE21 has a very nice manual focus scale on it that makes it very easy to precisely set the focus.

Lately, I've been setting my aperture to f11 and my focus to the hyperfocal distance for f8. My foregrounds are still pretty sharp but it really adds depth to the scene when biasing the focus for the background a bit. If I am shooting close to the ground or I have a significant foreground object, Ill dial down to f/16 and focus at the hyperfocal distance for f11.

And, one more for good measure - I dont normally work with B&W much but thought it was fitting for this lonely tree:
