Have you considered Eneloops? Not sure if others like them or not.

;)

Put it this way: I bought a Canon SX110 a few years ago, and was very disappointed when I consistently got less than 100 shots using alkaline batteries. I kept thinking, "either I'm buying old batteries off the shelf, this camera is a battery hog, or the chip is shutting the camera down when it thinks the batteries are low, even though they aren't."

It wasn't unusual to get only 60 shots on a pair of Duracells, and that's without flash.

Then I bought a four-pack of Eneloops for ten bucks (came with the charger) at Best Buy and consistently got (no joke) 900 shots for two batteries, and about half that with consistent use of flash.

Those things are stupidly strong. It's like they are possessed by ghosts.

Thank you. bw!

There is only one thing wrong with Eneloops. I'd have liked for them to bring over the colored ones, just so it's easier to identify and classify which ones were used or need charging.

But, Eneloops. Great batteries.

Eneloops... No doubt.

Duracell and Energizer ones I have tried suck compared. I mean really, badly, suck. No contest.

I got a handful of different colors, but it seems there's no way to order specific colors.

The aforementioned starter kit came with 4 light blue AAs, 4 dark blue AAs, two light green AAAs, and two dark green AAAs. But when I ordered an additional set of 8, they were all white. I marked 4 of them with a red Sharpie, but it bled over the label, now they're just kinda a pink gradient.

In Japan you can get limited-edition Eneloops with Disney characters on them.

A pile of Eneloops, which I'm not sure anyone has mentioned yet, and a Maha C800S 8 cell charger. (You can get the C801D 8 cell that looks nearly the same, but costs more and charges faster. I figured I would rather put the savings toward a second C800S in the future.)

I've been happy with them so far, but honestly I just went with them because of how many others were suggesting them. I figured if that many people were happy with them, then chances are I would be happy as well. Three cheers for Sheep Choices!

Yeah, that was the Costco pack I first got, then subsequent ones were white. I think Europe or Japan got colored ones as a special release. One of each color of seven colors. I'd have to have bought four packs...but that would have been SOOOOOO worth it.

The "glitter" Eneloops are available at a bunch of different online retailers if anyone is interested. Same as the plain white Eneloop, but at a bit of a price premium.

I'm in Canada and can't seem to find Eneloops. Can anyone recommend a decent online retailer, please ?

Also--If I'm not concerned about quick-charging (or whatever the term is) is it fine to use my, say, energizer 6-8 hour chargers with Eneloop batteries ?

I ordered mine through B&H in the States. They will ship with Purolator so you don't get dinged with random $50+ "Brokerage fees".

I am surprised that nobody has recommended Tenergy. The AA size has 2600mAh compared to eneloops 2000mAh. I saw the test thread where the eneloops came out on top, but they last me a long time in my flash with always fast recycle times, and they have never let me down.

NCIX out in BC is good too...if you want to buy from Canada. ;) They're almost always on for $19.99, but this week they're $22.99

I was going to purchase from NCIX myself, however their stock has been terrible, as is their price. $19.99 for a 4 pack of AA, (which have been out of stock for ages) compared to $19.10 USD for an 8 pack?

I'm all for supporting business in my own nation, and will happily pay a little extra for it, but when prices are often 25-60% higher with only equal or lesser service, I'm taking my money else where. I will pay far more from a brick and mortar shop, if I'm actually getting service that makes it worth it. But if the guy behind the counter is a kid more interested in his iPhone than helping me? Nope, still taking my business elsewhere.
