The reason I first suggested this 'Like' button was because on the threads I subscribe to (7D related ones) there are a lot of pictures posted. Some of the better pictures get duplicated with people giving their opinion on whats good/bad with the picture. Now if the picture is on its own in a post, it probably wouldn't be to bad, but usually there tends to be several pictures per post. Now imagine people quoting these pictures and saying good/bad things about them, and over several people quoting the original poster, the pictures get duplicate numerous times. So, if I understand it as Jon says, all quoted pictures will be a thumb nail size and I guess won't take up that much space on a thread so yep... like.
Another reason for having one is like RJX below says. How many times have you read something on here from someone and it's helped you out?? A new shortcut on a firmware upgrade, a tip for night photography, even someone cracking a joke. Clicking that "like" button lets the original poster know he's helped you or made you smile, even if the advice was never intended for you.
