These light spots appear on my pics. Not sure if it's lens flare or something else.

I'm shooting with a t3i and a tamron 28-75 2.8. Do you know how I can prevent this from happening?

I did and it didn't show up, and whats weirder is those spots don't always appear on that lens, if I shot at a different angle they were gone

Supression of flare is a quality of the lens. I don't know much about this lens but I guess it is prone to flare. You need a different lens.

You aren't using a UV filter are you? If so, take it off and try again.

Hmm, yeah, to me it looks like some kind of lens flare. Particularly in the second photo, where it seems that there is one spot for each of the street lamps seen in the image.

Any time you're shooting in or toward a bright source of light your lens can be subject to flaring. How drastically it affects the lens depends on the lens and whether it was manufactured to be flare resistant. Even the better ones will fail if you're shooting into strong direct sources of light.

Your examples can be cleaned up easily enough in post, you might have to live with that for the time being.

That was my thought, on the other image I think the green spots are flare from a traffic light in the background.

What was annoying was how far from the actual post these spots were

Anything I can do to fix this in the future?
