Hello, I'm in the middle of my Europe trip (right now in Prague) and my most used lens has suddenly started giving this problem.

It works fine upto around 15-16mm - but any wider, it reports an error asking the contacts to be cleaned. Have done it multiple times, but to no avail.

Is there a fix for this problem? Else, will be stuck to a 16-24 range on the lens which is not ideal but still ok.

You need to get it serviced. It happened to me too: https://photography-on-the.net …light=tokina+12-24&page=2

You can only shoot at f/4-5 at 12-15mm. You have to be above 16mm to use f/5.6-f/22. The aperture ribbon needs to be repaired. I sent mine to THK Photo in California to get it repaired ($115 + shipping). Turn around time was about a month.

My first Tokina 11-16 had this same problem a few weeks after I got it; in exchange window luckily with Amazon so they just cross shipped me a new one. 1 year later no issues with replacement (My most used lens)

I just posted this as a new thread - but probably should have added to this.

Its 10 days since I returned from the trip. Tried the lens on my 20D and no issues in any setting..... Decided it was a 7D / 12-24 issue - but when I tried it on the 7D, works perfectly fine!!
