Hi all,

It's winter in my region but temperature don't go down more than 10degree C, it's mostly around 14 d C.
And my 40d don't work, the Mirror don't flip up when I press the Shutter Button. I thought the Shutter Button is faulty so I pull apart the camera, open up the switch release (WC2-5568) and clean up the parts inside with a cotton buds and Ethanol.
The camera worked for 1 days or so then It's failed again.
Then I noticed when I live it in the sun to warm up. it work. It work for a while then again it's out of order... and lately I forgot it in the sun for too long. Now it worked good only on Manual Mode. In the Basic Zone of the Mode Dial the Shutter speed is blocked at 500 and Aperture 18, no matter how is the lightning of the subject i want to shoot..
I'm ready for all advice,
thank you

See if you can investigate the behavior as related to the battery. A cold battery, one that is old and perhaps weak, can show fully charged but just won't have the capacity when cold. When warmed up it might be able to deliver as batteries work better at higher temperatures.

Perhaps try another battery, known to be good, or chill the body with the battery removed, then slip in a fully charged (and warm!) battery and quickly test to see the bahavior.
