My 40d is getting super dusty, and those little rocket blowers arent doing the trick anymore. While I dont have a whole lotta money, I dont want to ruin my camera either... which product should I go for? I have lens pens laying around, but I am afraid to use those...also, I didn't realize the black residue was normal and I ended up touching it with my finger before. So I dont want to use that again right? Do I want a wet wipe or will a super clean camera brush work? Im checking stuff on Amazon and it looks like itll range from 15-30 bucks.

Once the Rocket Blower fails, I break out the Visible Dust green swabs. Photographic Solutions makes a line of cleaning products that are also popular but I have not used those. I would not use a lens pen on a sensor but I believe they make a version for the sensor.

You may also want to get a lighted magnifier which makes spotting dust easier than the f/22 method.

Spend the 15-30 bucks, it's too important to screw up

Well the easiest way is to send it to Canon. Or you can research the copperhill method.

Here's a good introduction to sensor cleaning:

And here's a good tutorial:

I use the Copperhill kit for wet cleaning, as do lots of other POTNers.

spend the 15-30 bucks - eclipse solution and swabs works well for sensor cleaning

I spent over a £100 on something that would do the trick of cleaning the sensor...I ended up going to a Canon repair sensor to get rid of the mechanism oil that was on the sensor, forgotten how much it cost to clean the sensor, but it was less than £30, so a simple trip and a half hour later, it was all clean. How I wished I didn't spend that £100, it would of gone on something else

Go on, name and shame the gear you used:)
I'm just about to buy some sensor cleaning gear for my 1D and I'd hate to have your experience.

I acquired an expensive camera so I can hang out in forums, annoy wedding photographers during formals and look down on P&S users... all the while telling people it's the photographer, not the camera.
