Does any one have a solution for copy protection on DVD Slideshows? I am looking for a solution that will allow me to create a DVD slideshow and give it to a customer, but not allow the customer to copy the material.

Regards,

I would suggest watermarking every photo on the dvd because there is no foolproof copy protection out there. If a dvd can be created it can be decrypted and copied. The photos can be screen captured as well and can be made into 5x7 prints very easily so be aware of that also.

Thanks for the reply...It seems like making a DVD with Copy protection is not going to be a simple task....Watermarking the images is simple, but I would like to put some degree of difficulty in the way of the people who buy a DVD, and then make copies for friends and family.

Regards,

factor that into the price...seriously. Dont take this the wrong way but you are doing it all wrong and wasting your time, worrying about this. People will copy for their friends and family, , put it on social media sites, erase the watermarks, take it to walmart and make a million copies, thats the bottom line, learn to accept it and fix your business model to accommodate it.

Copy protecting a DVD/CD is expensive if u do it professionally- and at the end of the day is useless anyway.

Watermark photos, charge more, let them copy forever, who cares. Photographers need to stop nickle and dimming customers. Photography is not a necessity like food, gas and the important things that nickle and dime us already.

If a photog needs to do this, they need to re-evaluate how they do business in my opinion.

not really, some people will simply go ''oh, bugger well one copy will have to do'' my dad, my aunt/uncle and even my sister (and my cousin) would all do that so while people can decript CDs etc not everyone will so its definatly not a waste of time, if it was no DVD, CD or Itune track/video would waste there time with such details, infact i think id just grin and bear it while i can crack CDs and things i probably would just think ''i cant be bothered''.

while everything can be cracked not everyone will, in DVD making programs if your only doing a few for people and arnt in need of mass production (which im sure most photogs are not) then you can get the option to encrypt it for copy protection within the program and if not or its not good enough, download someone elses.

there's also a way to scramble images on discs so if any attempt is made to ''drag and drop'' or screen grab the result will be a real low res image which is practically unusable for any means, though i have no idea how to do this my freind does and uses this for his 3D animations when there sent out on CVs and the like.

i didnt say you cant do some low grade CP, you can find lot of info on this through online searches. At the end of the day, in my opinion( which really doesnt matter, but i'm still posting it here because that's what forums are for), its too much trouble to go through to, i'd never do it up. I made 3 films and none of them have copy protection and all are region 0. Why you may ask? Because if someone wants it bad enough they'll get it regardless. Am i happy about that, no, but i understand how the system works and i'm working with it and not against it. The more ppl see my stuff the better for me in the long run, brand recognition, etc.

Either way,good luck op.
