Will I regret it?

I am an event/portrait photographer and my 135L only ever gets used about less than 5% of the time I am shooting.. I almost always use 85L for portraits.. and use 35L/85L combo for most events.

Thinking of selling the 135L and investing in 70-200L IS II. Is this a good decision (for event photography)?

Also thinking of getting 16-35L sometime in future as 35mm is not really wide enough at times during events.

No big deal, if you regret it you can buy another. You don't have the only one they made

I do agree that I use 85L most of the time for my portraits sessions. The 70-200 II is very good for event.

Invest in 70-200 II. It’s magical.

You won’t miss your 135.

70-200 mk2 is an incredible versatile tool for events photography especially if you can achieve prime quality files from a killer zoom.

Only way I can see you miss the 135L is if you didn't have fast glass to aid in low light photography. Since your collects dust and you prefer the slug slow AF of the 85L (but get amazing IQ) you wont miss the 135L. Its easier to scrounge up money to get an inexpensive redring 135L vs the 70-200mk2 that costs double if you sold the 135L.

For events photography I love my 16-35L. I do enjoy using the 24Lmk2 over the 35L for events photography too.

If you are not using it then sell it. I just picked up the 135L couple days ago, I love it to death. It is so sharp, almost too sharp for portraits...lol.

70-200 MK II is an excellent lens, but do think about the size and weight. I personally don't like to haul around a heavy lens to do wedding or long event, my wrists hurt badly at the end of the night.

The 70-200L IS II has prime level IQ, has the versatility of a zoom for events, and the IS gives you about 3 stops leeway with stationary subjects. This is the definitive event lens. I'm excited to see if the 24-70 performs similarly.

It will only be on par if the 24-70 mk II has IS.....so no~! :(

Go with the combo you think about.

16-35LII
35L
85LII
70-200LII

That's my dream setup too.

I do almost all my events with flashes (4 x 600ex-rt).. so 1 stop of light won't be a big issue for me. Also the main reason I don't use 135L is because of that focal length.. most of the events I do I find the 70-120 focal length perfect for candids / portraits..
