You won't know unless you try. Like someone already said, you can always buy another one.

Invest in 70-200 II. It’s magical.

You won’t miss your 135.

Magically heavy too! You wouldn't believe it weighed that much by looking at it.

I had the 135L and the 70-200 IS II. I sold the 135 and kept the 70-200 II. Sharper (not by much), more versatile, and has IS.

x3. Yes, you will regret it. Don't sell it. I use my 135mm about 75% of the time.

I do almost all my events with flashes (4 x 600ex-rt).. so 1 stop of light won't be a big issue for me. Also the main reason I don't use 135L is because of that focal length.. most of the events I do I find the 70-120 focal length perfect for candids / portraits..

If you mainly used your 85L and didn't find a use for the 135 focal length, why do you think you'll suddenly find a need for the range from 85 -200mm? Since you're using lights, even the 24-105 or the 100 f/2 would seem to be a better choice. I just don't see a need to carry around all the extra weight if you're not going to use that range.

I think the only reason I never used that focal length was not because it was an unusable focal length for me.. but because I use two bodies and don't like changing lenses.. so I always had 35 / 85 on the two bodies.. and while I could get some really nice candid shots at 135mm focal length, I was never bothered to swap my lenses during an event (especially if im only going to take 5-10 photos at that focal length during the whole event).

Having 70-200mm in one lens would be beneficial because with that I can take 1-2 people portraits at 85-100mm range.. while take candids from far away so people don't know their pictures are being taken.. possibly in that 120 - 200mm range.

Really?

I have the big dog and was considering getting the 135L.
It doesn't sound like I need it if I have the 2.8 II.

Does anyone have both lenses, 135mm and 70-200 f2.8? Which one do you use the most?

In past I sold 135L due to the odd focal length (even on FF), then I bought 70-200 2.8L II (best for events), but re-bought 135L due to it's perfect IQ + compactness. I just needed to use it more.
This is a perfect lens for modelling, don't want the slow 85 1.2L of which the 1.2 is too thin anyway, I sold this one too but aren't going back, rather have the 85 1.8 or 70-200 II at €85mm!

If you see Dankata's posts with this magical - one of Canon's holy trinity primes - you will think twice ;)

I'd regret it, but that is me!

You said you use it less than 5% of the time, sell it and get the lens you want.

As was said, you can buy it again if you miss it. Based on how much you use it, I doubt you will miss it. Different people shoot different ways!

Used to own 135L and sold it for 70-200mkII.

It's a good lens, but I certainly don't see the so call 'magic' from it. It produces creamy bokeh only because of its tele length, nothing more than that. IQ wise? meh nothing to wow about

The zoom is just as sharp if not sharper, and with IS to boost.

The only advantage is its cheap price and size, but that's not enough reason for me to repurchase it that's for sure.

Oh and f2 vs f2.8 is moot for 99.99% of people;)
