My default preference for importing photos in to Lightroom 4.1 is to use Camera Standard. This is what I've always used with my previous cameras (XSi, T2i, and 7D) and been happy with the consistent results compared to what the scene was.

I just did an outdoor photo session with my new 5dmk3. And, while the Adobe Standard photos were "okay", I was very confused by the Camera Standard. The skin colors were very off (Very orangey). Camera Portrait was direct out of oompa-loompa.

I shot in RAW and my color balance was right for the scene. Yes, I could play with the Orange channel to get it to a more reasonable value, but I've never had to tweak that too much in the past.

I'll post samples later (Don't have access to them right now). Looking for any sort of feedback from others.

Here's a sample image. I zoomed in a lot.
Left 1/3 is Adobe Standard -- Right color, too flat.
Middle is Camera Standard -- Too Orange
Right 1/3 is Camera Portrait -- Too Red

"Camera standard" will be a different profile for every type of camera, so maybe the 5D3 one is a bit "off".

I've always used "Camera Neutral".
You can also create your own profiles if you want maximum accuracy.

Thank you for the feedback Rene.

As I said, I have, in the past preferred Camera Standard, as it seemed consistent across all of my prior cameras, and accurate to the scene.

It's only with the 5dmk3, that I felt the colors were overly saturated to the point of unusable.

I'm going to do some more experimenting (Colorchecker, DPP, and In Camera Jpeg on 5d3). I'd also like to try using my 7D on the same scene to prove that it's "Camera Standard" is much more usable.
