I was just browsing thru Craigslist and found this ad. I just thought it was a bit amusing that someone who had probably spent $1000 dollars on a lens couldn't manage to take a decent picture of it. Sure maybe he was using a camera phone or something, but still...

Could well be that the seller did not want a clear picture of it - The only times I have ever been surprised by the condition of an item is when the seller does not have a good picture of it. They almost always end up hiding a lot of sins in that little blur!

^I was thinking both those things actually.
I went to buy a guitar from someone once, and prior to that he kept sending me "blurry" photos. Once I got there, you could see all the scrapes and dings all over the guitar. I didn't buy it, and I don't think anyone would. Just be honest up front and save peoples time.

I agree with the above, but another possibility is he wants to give the impression he doesn't know much about photography, and therefor, doesn't know much about the item being sold, which could make some people believe he has it under-priced. Not sure if that makes sense.

If steroids are illegal for athletes, should PS be illegal for models?

That makes sense. Maybe some uneducated photographer sees it and thinks he's getting a great price or something?

Or maybe he's getting out of photography because he can't take a half way decent shot.

Maybe he is a rich hipster kid, who got the lens from mommy. I would just take a body with you and test it first.

Considering he priced it at $700 firm...

I've been looking for a nice second bike for my kid for when he comes over. You would not believe the dark crappy photos. People take pics of these things in their basements with no lights one it seems. Sadly, they can't even spell things like "selling". (I'm saleing my bike)

This (and the variations; I'm going to sale my xyz" etc.) have become my biggest pet-peeve. Drives me nuts.

I just imagine a thick southern accent in my head when I read that.
