Can anyone help me out? I recently recorded a dinner theatre show for a commercial, etc.
I recorded using the Zoom H4n on 4 channell on audio, with the DSLR's set at 30 FPS (Comes out at 29.97, I believe) but the audio seems to be losing speed, and goes out of sync by a couple seconds in 30 seconds of play time. Any idea how to fix it?

Thanks a lot!

I wonder if the video editors on The Titanic ever went, "Sorry, I can't right now. I'm busy synching the Titanic..."

Did you record the audio and video at the same time?

Have you checked that your project settings match your frame rate and sample rate?

Not knowing your skill level i would suggest making sure that the Frame Rate of the source and Sequence are the same… Maybe check the Sample rate of the audio. You should either be 44.1k or 48k A mismatch on either of these could result in what you are describing. Make sure that the Video and Audio are shot at the same frame rate. 29.97 on one and 24 on the other could have this effect. Thats just a start……

First step........ Take the lens cap off.

Chet.... You know what, you may be right.... I recorded the same song 2 nights in a row, and I have the audio & video from the first night, and the audio & video from the second night, and that could be mixed up.... If that's it, iStupid!

You'll need to resample the audio. Most hand held recorders default to 30fps (not 29.97, but straight up 30 fps) when they record. Resampling audio is really very easy. Many NLE systems can do it with no problems. If your system can't then down load this fine piece of freeware (look below) from a very, very trusted source: Sound Devices. They make some of the best field mixers as well as Multi Track recorders in the world. I personally own several of their products and couldn't be happier with them.

This is a great tool to have around for anyone that plays around with sync sound (what the OP is trying to do). This is the slightly older version of Wave Agent. I still use it. The new versions web page isn't displaying for me right now. Maybe check back with them if you want the newer download. Like I said, the older one works perfectly.

I actually figured it out then (With Chet's help)
I drove myself crazy hunting down bitrates and other playback stuff, but never thought, that I have two tracks that sound exactly the same (Almost); one from one night, one from the second.
I was using video from the second, audio from the first... I don't know why I never thought of it before!
Thanks for the help though! At least it was just my stupid mistake, though, and not something terribly wrong! :)
