I've got what I think is the original Cinch (ordered aug 2012). I'm looking for a solution for me to easily disconnect my strap from the camera, primarily for when I have it on a tripod.

I came across this post VERY early on in the thread:
https://photography-on-the.net …showthread.php?p=15016590

It seems that solution could work, though I don't think I like the metal connector and risky scratching things - whether hanging or in storage. I've seen some other connectors from OP/Tech but it seems they are very light duty. If I'm adding an extra point of failure I definitely want it to be reliable!!!

Related questions:
- Is there any consensus that the newer loop/cinch are better than the original? Any other alternatives to the cinch?
- Any ideas how - if the system doesn't directly support it - that I could also easily attach the camera to my backpack? I have D-rings and strap loops (F-Stop Loka)... and I don't want the Peak Design Capture Clip...

Look at my post, several ahead of the one you linked. I show the loopit, the original cinch, and the loop mk1. The loop mk1 may be what you're looking for, as the quickrelease connector is 100% plastic--not likely to scratch up your camera. The mk2 loop is superior--with a really nice metal QR setup--harder to find that model, and it usually has a higher price. I saw a loop mk1 on ebay a few days ago...

The loop 3 is a nice cinch/loop combination, but obviously it lacks the old style QR connectors.

I know I'm renewing an old thread but Greg and Luma Labs have just announced their new Loop 3 Special Edition... along with Pull Tab replacement hardware. I've been looking forward to the Pull Tab hardware for a while now. It's great that it's almost here... ships in June. I ordered a set to convert my old Loop 3 and a new Special Edition.

As usual, their prices aren't the cheapest..... but what products. I use my Cinch 1 a couple times a week and still love it. I know I'll love the Loop 3 with the new pull tab hardware as well.

Even though you said the price isn't cheap, you failed to mention the price...$169

Sorry about that. Thanks for taking care of it.

I was thinking about those of us who were active on this thread before and not about someone showing up here for the first time.

Again, my bad.

Wow, that is more than double what I paid for my Luma v1 (Sept. 2012 $75) which I still have and use....

I don't remember what I paid for my Cinch 1.... but I still use it every time I'm out.

Some of us asked Greg to make a high end Loop 3... with the pull tab. Took a while but he did it. He machined the parts himself, for the most part. It is expensive..... but I'm looking forward to getting it.

I'm probably one of the few that doesn't like the pull tab.

My Loop3 Special Edition was shipped yesterday... Priority Mail. Since I'm in Florida, I'm guessing it will show up Wednesday. The tracking info should be available when I get home from work in a couple hours (1:30AM Right Coast time)

I'd say "I can't wait.".... but we all know.... I can. ;)
